Poinciana Villages is surrounded by beautiful parks. The 12,000-acre Disney Wilderness Preserve is an outdoor lover’s paradise, home to more than 1,000 species of plants and animals. APV’s own Deerwood Community Park has basketball courts, baseball and soccer fields and more. Our nearby parks feature boating ramps, picnic grounds, hiking trails, exercise facilities and other recreational attractions. So get out, enjoy the beautiful scenery and fresh air, and take advantage of all there is to see and do.

Darby Park 

   

DARBY PARK  presents itself as the perfect place to stop and let the kids work of some of that pent up energy after a day of school. The little ones will enjoy the playground and the older ones can shoot some hoops on the basketball court.
Picnic tables are also available to have a picnic lunch in the great outdoors.

Deerwood Community Park

   

Located off Laurel Avenue in Poinciana this park is mainly a sporting park. If you want to see a little league baseball game look no further.  From children to adults Deerwood Park is the place to see baseball.This facility offers basketball courts and both baseball and soccer fields.

The Poinciana Dog Park is a great place for Poinciana residents to bring their furry friends. Dogs can run and play in this fun, free and safe environment.

Poinciana Community Park

      

Located in Village 7 Poinciana Community Park is one of Poinciana’s most versatile parks. This park is complete with a pavilion and several sporting fields to include football, basketball, soccer, baseball, cricket and volleyball. In addition, a dog park with covered seating while you watch your furry friends play and exercise. A playground with equipment to make any child jump for joy rounds out this fully lighted versatile park

Charlie Wheeler Park

      

 Charley Wheeler Park is a park for everyone, and hosts many ballgames from pee wee to adult leagues. It also has Basketball court and a playground for the little ones to work off that extra engery

Vance Harmon Park  and  The Mary Jane Arrington Gym and Aquatic Center

One of the oldest parks in Poinciana. Vance Harmon Park thru a partnership of the Association of Poinciana Villages Board of Directors and Osceola County Commissioners, started a complete renovation in 2016. Phase One of the project consisted of the building of a competition pool and a new gymnasium. In addition, a outside fitness trail lined with equipment and perfect for a relaxing stroll. This phase of the renovations were completed and open to the public on May 13,2017.

Phase Two is slated to be completed in Dec 2017 to include renovations to the football and softball fields, two outdoor basketball courts, two playgrounds, a dog park and an amphitheater.

THE COMPETITION POOL

The competition pool has eight, 25-meter swim lanes and a 2 board, 12-foot diving well. When the pool is not in use for scheduled competitions and activities, it will be open to homeowners of The Association of Poinciana Villages at a reduced rate. In addition, non-members of the Association of Poinciana Villages and non-residents can also purchase day passes or memberships. Please see rates below:

THE GYMNASIUM

 

 

 

    

The Gymnasium consists of a regulation size Basketball Court / Volleyball court, shower, locker rooms, and meeting rooms.

This building also is home to the Poinciana Branch of the Florida University Cooperative Extension Program.

Poinciana Memorial Park

 

     

 

Poinciana Memorial Park is dedicated to the men and women who gave all to a grateful nation. Located in front of the Administration Building, the backdrop of our Community fountain,County, Community and Our Nations flags make this the perfect place to reflect, and hosts our beautiful Veterans Day Ceremony.

NEAR- BY PARKS AND PRESERVES

 

Disney Wilderness Preserve

Located south of Orlando, the 12,000-acre preserve straddles the headwaters of the Everglades ecosystem. Bordered by cypress-ringed Lake Russell, with one of the area’s last undeveloped lakefronts, the preserve is home to more than 1,000 species of plants and animals. It anchors a mosaic of protected Central Florida lands where visitors can step back into time. Good educational facility with 7 miles of trails. Watch for turkeys and sandhill cranes on the drive in. On the trail, expect raptors, bobwhites, wrens, warblers, blue birds, and sparrows. Scan the lake for woodcocks, waders, snipe, king rails, and ducks. The preserve is also home to the southeastern big-eared bat, Sherman’s fox squirrel, eastern indigo snake and gopher tortoise. (The Florida panther has been documented crossing the site!)

Directions from I-4:
• Exit onto Hwy. 535 and head south.
• Follow 535 to Poinciana Blvd. Turn right (south) onto Poinciana Blvd.
• Follow Poinciana Blvd. approximately 15 miles until you reach the intersection of Poinciana Blvd. and Pleasant Hill Road. Turn right onto Pleasant Hill Rd.
• Continue to the first stop light, which is Dover Plum.
• Turn left onto Dover Plum and continue until you come to the second stop sign, which is at the end of Dover Plum.
• Turn right and shortly thereafter turn left at the first left drive onto Scrub Jay Trail following it into the preserve to the parking lot.

Southport Park Ramp

Boat Access – Lake Toho
Location: Southport Park 2001 Southport Road Kissimmee, FL 34746
Hours: Access available from sunrise to sunset.
Ramp Type: single ramp with three lanes. Lime rock parking lot capable of accommodating 25 to 30 trailers.
Directions: Take U.S. 192 to Poinciana Boulevard. Head south on Poinciana Boulevard to Southport Road. Take a right on Southport Road and follow to the end (approximately 6 miles).
